EpiLipidNET Interest Groups

Why Interest Groups?

Lipids are fundamental components of life, playing key roles in membrane structure, cellular signaling, energy storage, and immune function. As research in lipidomics and epilipidomics expands, so does the need to explore the diverse roles of lipids in health, disease, and biotechnology.

To address this complexity, EpiLipidNET has established a set of specialized Interest Groups (IGs), each focused on a strategic thematic area within lipid science. These collaborative platforms bring together interdisciplinary researchers—ranging from biochemists and cell biologists to clinicians and analytical chemists—to tackle outstanding questions and drive methodological advances.

Each Interest Group is designed to:

  • Deepen understanding of lipid function and dynamics in specific biological contexts;

  • Standardize and develop analytical workflows tailored to each subfield;

  • Facilitate collaboration across disciplines and institutions;

  • Generate and share knowledge with the wider lipidomics and biomedical community.

From the role of the endothelial membrane in vascular health, to lipid metabolism in plants and algae, food systems, or the effects of oxidative modifications on lipid signaling—each IG contributes to the overarching mission of EpiLipidNET: advancing integrative lipidomics through collaboration, innovation, and shared expertise.
